People of the Klamath: Of Land and Life
$30.00
People of the Klamath: Of Land and Life tells the story of how Northern California Indian tribes used the Freedom of Religion provision of the U.S. Constitution to win a landmark victory against the U.S. Forest Service. At issue was a logging road that would decimate sacred prayer sites in the High Country above the Klamath River. Despite a reversal of the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, environmental concerns prevented the road's construction. In the process the Native Americans of northern California discovered their ability to control their lives and their own destiny.
