LONGBOAT: DISTANCE RUNNER
"Longboat" examines the life and
times of Tom Longboat, a long distance runner from the turn of the century.
Based on Bruce Kidd's book "In Defense of Tom Longboat" it focuses
on a chance meeting between Toronto star sports editor Jimmy McKearney
and Longboat years after he has finished running. Curmudgeonly McKearney
wants to hear the "Rags to Riches to Rags" stereotype but is astonished
when Longboat gives him the real story. An insightful examination of North
American 20th century society and it's values is
the subtext of this fascinating story of one of the Iroquois Nations most
famous athletes.
